How To Roast Garlic

This is for my friend who asked me for very specific instructions as to how to Roast Garlic. Here are step by step instructions as to how to make the most delicious Roasted Garlic. I hope you enjoy!

What you will need:
At least 1 whole head of Garlic (more if you want)
1 TBSP of your favorite Olive Oil (any flavor, my favorite is rosemary, but even just the normal generic brand will do)
1 tsp Salt (bigger grains of Kosher Salt are my favorite, but table salt is just fine)
Fresh Ground Pepper
1/2 Cup Water
One Garlic Roaster (can be found most places with Kitchen gadgets and is not very expensive.)


1. Get all your ingredients together and preheat your oven to 350 Degrees.


2. Cut the Garlic about 1/2 inch down from the top of the garlic cloves. See below for my cut line, mine got a little crooked, but that’s ok.


Here’s what you have now, a whole head of garlic ready for deliciousness.


3. Peel off the excess paper from the outside of the head. Be careful not to pull cloves off the outside of the Garlic Head, just the excess paper.


4. Put the Garlic in the Garlic Roaster. If the garlic is all wonky and won’t stay upright you can cut the bottom to make it more flat if needed.


5. Pour the olive oil right on top of the garlic so it gets into the cloves.


6. Sprinkle Salt and Pepper on the top of the garlic. It will look something like this at this time.


7. Put the lid on the Garlic Roaster and bake at 350 Degrees for 15 Minutes.

8. After 15 minutes add 1/2 cup water, I pour it right on top of the Garlic.


10. Cover with the Roaster lid again and bake for another 15 minutes.

11. After 15 minutes, spoon the water from the bottom of the roaster right on top of the Garlic.


12. Cover the roaster with the lid again and bake for 15 minutes.

13. After 15 minutes, spoon the water again on the top of the garlic, cover and bake for the last 15 minutes. The Garlic will roast for a total of 1 hour.

14. After the final 15 minutes, take the Garlic out and allow it to cool down before plucking out the delicious cloves.


15. The easiest way I have figured out how to get them out is to grab a paper towel and squeeze the garlic head from the bottom, and the cloves will just pop out.


This takes an hour, so plan accordingly as I usually use the roasted garlic cloves in something else, so I need to have enough time to do both. It’s absolutely 100% worth it. You will be so happy you did this, and I know you’ll find many uses for it! I know I do!
