Garlic #3 – Roasted Garlic Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza

There are two things I love to eat. Cheeseburgers and Pizza. So when I found out that you could blend these two amazing items into one delicious item, I flipped.

The first time I ever had this was at Old Chicago and it was a special they had for about a week. Then I never saw it on the menu again. Years later, I worked at that exact restaurant and I worked with the most amazing man who had at one point worked in the kitchen and made me this pizza whenever I wanted. He was (and still is) amazingly incredible.

As our friendship and love blossomed I was always amazed at his ability to whip up this delicious concoction, and then when we moved in together, he taught me how it’s done. Now 16 years later, I continue to add and change the recipe with what we have and what sounds good.

This has been one of my go to recipes in a pinch and now is something of a comfort food for me. I will give you the most recent creation of this, however please try your favorite burger creations with it. I have made Swiss Mushroom Cheeseburger Pizza in the past and that is one of my favorites. But today I bring you another way to use Roasted Garlic in something deliciously new and unique. Don’t be afraid, if you like cheeseburgers, you will love this pizza.

Roasted Garlic Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza


Pizza Crust – either from a can, or a bread maker
2 TBSP Ketchup
1 tsp Mustard
One head of Roasted Garlic
6 pieces of Bacon
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 chopped onion
4 handfuls of shredded cheddar cheese
1 Tomato sliced


1. Roast the Garlic (remember to give yourself some time to do this, and you can do the other items while this is still going)

2. Cook the bacon. You can either do this on a bacon pan on your stovetop or you can do this one of my favorite ways and that is to put the raw bacon on a broiler pan in the oven. Cook at 350 for 17 minutes and it will crisp up perfectly and you have easy cleanup. My broiler pan is mainly used for Bacon, I love bacon. If you’re looking for a birthday gift for me, Bacon is a good choice.

3. Cook the ground beef and add salt and pepper to the meat. I have a confession to make. Sometimes I don’t defrost the meat all the way. I get impatient or didn’t think about it and it’s halfway defrosted. If you ever do this, here’s a trick. throw the meat into a hot pan and then cover it. The steam from the meat will help defrost it faster. Don’t leave the pan and keep checking it as the defrosted parts will want to burn, so you have to keep moving it around, but it will get done.


4. When the ground beef is cooked through, add your chopped onions to the mix and cook until the onions are soft.


5. Whenever the Roasted Garlic is done, add the yummy roasted cloves into the meat mixture too. Heat on low until ready to put on the pizza.

6. Take the pizza crust and spread it on the pizza pan.


7. Bake the pizza crust at 425 for 5 minutes to get a crisp on it.

8. Take the pizza dough out and start the yummy process. Watch out, it’s about to get serious.

9. Take the ketchup and mustard and put it on the pizza. What Dani, that’s crazy, pizza had red sauce right? Not this one my friends…trust me, it’s yummy.


10. Take the back of a spoon and spread it around all the way to the edges of the pizza.


11. Now add the ground beef mixture and spread it around. I used to pile all the ingredients evenly around pizza’s until my husband taught me this trick. Leave the center of the pizza with less ingredients so there’s almost a little dent or lack of toppings in the middle. The reason why is because when you cut it, if there’s a lot of toppings, they will just fall off the pizza when you cut it. Awesome trick babe, thanks!


Then give your dog a little piece of meat. Hi Sienna!


12. Crush up the crisp bacon and spread on the pizza.


13. Add the Cheese. I don’t use a lot of cheese, but you could add more if you want.


14. Bake at 425 for 20 minutes.


15. While it is baking, cut up tomatoes and lettuce if you want, and if you really want to be awesome, get some sliced pickles ready.

16. To serve you can have it topping free as you see here, or add tomatoes, pickles, lettuce. Really if you put it on a burger you will love it on this pizza.


As a good little Parrot Head, I need to say that I like mine with lettuce and tomatoes, Heinz 57 with french fried potatoes.
