Marvelouse Mod Market

Recently I had the honor of being invited to the Mod Market opening at 16th and Champa in Downtown Denver. What a great event! Thank you all for the invitation and delicious lunch!

I never knew much about Mod Market, but learned that the inspiration for the restaurant is to provide food that people could eat for all three square meals and feel good and healthy! The range of food is wide from pizzas to gourmet salads, and all of them are under $10!

Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Superfood Salad
The first thing we tried is the Superfood Salad. This was delicious! It’s a blend of spinach and kale with grapes, feta, carrots, almonds and quinoa pilaf. It has a champagne vinaigrette dressing and was very light and the flavors came together really well! It was very fresh and inviting and I would have eaten the whole plate but I knew more food was coming (and there’s nothing like stuffing your face at a media event with cameras all over). Also this is the first time I enjoyed kale.

Arugula Mozz Sandwich
This one was by far my absolute favorite of the day. It’s a warm sandwich on ciabatta bread with fresh mozzarella, basil aioli, balsamic arugula & tomato. It was a blend of crunch (from the bread) and creamy (from the cheese and the aioli I took one bite and was hooked. It was absolutely delicious, and I will be ordering it again soon so I can have the whole sandwich to myself.

Smoky Chorizo Pizza
Don’t let the name of this pizza confuse you it’s not “smoky chorizo” it’s actually smoked mozzarella with chorizo, organic red sauce, red peppers and green onions. The Chorizo is this awesome spicy meat that is called “Polidori never-ever pork chorizo” according to the menu. I don’t know what all that is, but I do know the mixture of spices, meat and the smoked cheese was heavenly. The crust is very thin and you can request it gluten free for those who need it too!

Flank Steak Homestyle Plate
This is something new for Mod Market, and was very good! The Flank Steak was cooked well and came with a side of mashed potatoes. This was a great plate, and while not my favorite of the lunch, it was very good, and I could easily see ordering this for a quick dinner.

Thai Chicken Sandwich
This sandwich was my second favorite food of the lunch, close behind the other sandwich. Again served warm on ciabatta bread, it had this yummy roasted chicken, cucumber, cilantro, mint and my favorite….dipping sauce. I’m a sucker for dipping sauce, and this one was great. It was a peanut mango sauce which was amazing. I had to share the sauce with three other nice ladies, but if it were up to me I would have been double dipping the entire time.

Farmer Salad
Now this is my kind of salad. This is a hearty salad with mixed greens (they may have snuck kale in there but I’m not sure), roasted chicken, grapes, feta, corn, almonds and champagne vinaigrette. My biggest pet peeve about salads is they don’t fill me up…but this one is different, the addition of the chicken really helped it feel like a real meal, and one that I could have eaten for dinner and been happy with. The chicken was really moist, and very good. This is one I would order again. The only downfall is the grapes are whole and roll around everywhere, but that can be turned into a fun game of chase the grape. 🙂

Sesame Tofu Homestyle Plate
This tofu was my favorite ever. I am not a huge tofu fan, but when done right, I am. This one was done right. It was seared with sesame seeds and delicious. But the star of this plate was the Curry Roasted Cauliflower. The cauliflower was amazing and my favorite way to eat this vegetable ever. It was crispy with a lot of flavor on the outside and chewy on the inside. It was awesome.

M’Rita Pizza
Mod Market’s take on the Margarita Pizza was great. If you like super thin crust pizza this is for you. It was what my daughter would call “flappy pizza” that is easy to fold and eat in a few bites. The flavors of the basil, tomato sauce and mozzarella were wonderful.

It’s at this point that I was so full that I was going to burst. Everything we ate was delicious, and I would personally like to thank the Mod Market for inviting me over. I even got an invite for breakfast sometime! I’ll be returning this time with my family to get their take too!

Please visit the Mod Market if you have a chance. There are locations all over Colorado, so hopefully you can visit one soon.

Enjoy and eat well!

  1. Mozzarella somehow ranks high up in my “cheese list” — as a result, the Smoky Chorizo Pizza is my pick, without a doubt..:)
